Faréy Family Session in Southern Oregon
There is something incredibly special about photographing another photographer, especially one who is also a mom. We both know how fast these seasons move and how rarely we step in front of the camera with our own families. So when she reached out and asked me to capture her boys in the flower field, I felt deeply honored. I knew how much these photos would mean to her, not just now, but years from now when her boys are tall and her arms miss the weight of their little bodies.
The moment we stepped into the field, the boys were off exploring like it was their own secret garden. I loved watching her look at them with that mix of pride and tenderness that only a mama feels. As photographers, we notice the beauty in other people’s lives all the time, but it is a gift to slow down and take in our own. I could see her soaking in every second. Her adorable boys brought such sweet energy, and I am partial to adorable sons! They pointed out flowers, chased each other, and showed me their biggest smiles. Every so often I would glance over at her, and she would be laughing right along with them. It reminded me how important it is for moms to see themselves in these moments, loving and guiding and being the safe place their kids run back to.
One of my favorite parts of the session was how naturally she slipped into being fully present. Even as a photographer who knows all the behind the scenes things, she set it all aside and let herself be a mom. She scooped her boys up, kissed their cheeks, and held their hands while the sun wrapped everything in warm light. Those pieces of connection are what make a gallery feel alive.
As the day settled into that soft golden glow, the boys snuggled into her and their dad. The whole field grew quiet for a moment. Watching another photographer trust me with that kind of tenderness felt like the biggest gift. I know how protective we are of our own stories, and I never take this trust lightly.
This gallery is filled with color, movement, and the sweetest bits of childhood. But what makes it extra meaningful is knowing how much heart she pours into documenting others, and how grateful I am to document her in return. I hope these photos remind her of what this season feels like. The laughter. The chaos. The gentleness. The love that holds everything together.
If you are a fellow photographer or a mama who is always behind the camera, I would love to help you step into the frame with your people. Reach out when you are ready, and we can create something real and beautiful for your family. Thank you, Christine, for inviting me into this moment.
