The Cruz Family// Oregon Maternity Session

Elena and Alex are truly some of the sweetest people you could ever hope to spend time with. They are the kind of people who make you feel at home the minute you are around them, and spending time with their family is always so easy. They are kind, incredibly hospitable, and have such a natural warmth about them. They are from the Dominican Republic, and I have to believe some of that warmth and hospitality comes straight from their roots. Truly, they are some of the most welcoming people we know, and getting to photograph this season of their lives felt extra special.

Their sweet little girl joined us for the session, which made these photos feel like such a beautiful snapshot of their family right before everything changed again. At the time, they were waiting for their baby boy to arrive, and now he is here! I love thinking about these photos as the last little chapter of their family of three, with their daughter still the baby for just a bit longer and so much excitement waiting right around the corner. I am so happy for this sweet family and loved getting to document them before they became a family of four.

If you are planning a maternity session and already have a toddler, please bring them along! I never expect little ones to stand still, smile on command, or be interested in photos the entire time. We give them room to warm up, take breaks when they need to, and let them be themselves. Some of my favorite images happen when a toddler is cuddling up with Mom, checking out her belly, or simply being their busy little self while we capture what this season actually feels like for your family.
